Hi all!
Here is a promo for an animated feature I'm trying to launch. The original is razor sharp but I compressed it a tad to keep the file size smaller for the internet so its pixelated a bit. As it is, it still weighs in at a little under 4 megs. The clip runs about 30 seconds. Hope some of you have high speed DSL or cable modem.
Enjoy.

hey, looked cool. did you use the settings i gave you? looked *a little* too pixelated for that bit rate, but still very good. i think you need cleaner 5 to be able to set the "smoothing" option is sorensen, but you should try to use it. it lowers the resolution of highly compressed areas using gaussian blur or something instead of enlarging the pixels, which often looks better.
is this the correct aspect ratio? you'll probably want to resize it to a square pixel format, like 320x240, or set the "playback size" (again, you'll need cleaner) to such a format. but then again, maybe it's supposed to be in the 1.5 aspect?
also, check the "fast start header" and "prepare for internet streaming" checkboxes next time. this way us dsl users won't have to wait for download, but can use the wonderful http-streaming feature in quicktime...
my offer still stands: give it to me uncompressed (or use photo jpeg at high quality), and i'll compress it for you.

Thanks! Nah. It was all done in Premier 5.1c. I did the original drawings on punched paper and scanned them in register then painted them in Photoshop. Nothing fancy. Then I imported the Targas into Premier as a sequence or as stills that I programmed moves on. Everything was simply layered up using either chroma keys or alpha keys or standard mattes.
As I indicated, the original is razor sharp. This was my first attempt at posting a Quicktime movie on the web, so the compression is a little much, I think. Mattias has given me some pointers on what to do, so I think I'll make some changes and try again.
