I am in NYC and have been for the last three weeks. I was shooting on an Arri 35III of 1980's vintage. It has been nice to work with even though I am an Aaton man. I liked the fact that I had lenses galore at my fingertips. Zeiss SuperSpeed Primes, Cooke(My favorites) and an Angenieux 25-250 zoom.
I was shooting a lot of 2nd unit stuff. Chinatown, Statue of Liberty, Etc, Etc. I used Kodak stock(although I like Fuji more).
I don't know what else to say. I like New York but an glad I don't live here.
If anyone in the NYC area wants to get a beer before I leave(Saturday July 14) email me. I told you guys a while back that I was going to be here but no one seemed to care.

Ahhh...memories.Zeiss PL superspeeds..we used to rent when they had adapted B mount lenses..The PL mount superspeeds are nice..and Cooke..have you ever used the cooke cine varotal zooms..very sweet
so what are you shooting?.. TV spots?..2nd unit on a feature?..I always loved the 35-3...what stocks are you using...it's nice to order stocks that start with 52 isn't it..

I have been using Vision 200T, EXR 100T. The trip is for both Business and pleasure. The work is 2nd Unit for a film that I feel will never go anywhere due to "Production Differnces" among the key players. So I am sorry if I am being vague--It was a crazy hellish way to jump into the feature world.
I have learned more than I ever thought I would. I have met some great people that have the "connections" to more projects.

I am sorry that I missed a chance to meet a real filmmaker.
I live here in NY and know exactly what you mean when you say you are glad you don't live here. I am sorry that I do, because it's a pain in the ass.
Fortunately though (without trying to sound scatalogical), it's an interesting pain in the ass.
