hey, shooting a project for college, only edited on I-movie before...s'ok, i guess, but still looks amateurish...
any features on final cut (shall be learning to use soon) like putting film into widescreen, any filters to make it look more professional/ less home-video-eee.......anyone...cheers....

As someone once told me (and this worked), try putting up the contrast and expirimenting with the brightness. This should make it look closer to film. You never notice how big a role contrast plays when you see somehting shot NOT on film.
Try using different filters/effects/colors for different scenes. Think of films like Traffic and Natural Born Killers to get an idea of what i mean. I'm not saying copy those, but just giving some advice.
I'm assuming you didn't shoot on film.
