My opinion of the 3 open motor pics in the auction:
#1(4th from the last) i think would clean up pretty good into a proper working driver. Yeah, it's gonna take more than a spider shim and slapping a new diaphragm in it. But, if you have ever roasted up a voice coil to the point where part of it fuses itself in place, you know there can be some work involved in properly cleaning out a gap.
#2(3rd from the last) it'll take some doing, but i think once you work the remaining bits of coil and former out of the gap, it can probably be cleaned up into another proper working driver. It will take time, the patience of a fly tier, elbow grease, and perhaps a touch of luck.
#3(2nd from the last pic) if you can salvage this one into a presentable, proper working driver, you are a near God like creature. :)
I love that they're still wet inside for the pics.
If they were local i'd...
I'm with Bowtie, if they were local I would take a shot at a low bid.
The AT version isn't common. Has the transformer can from the 290. AT stands for attached transformer.
I owned a ton of 290E from when I liquidated for Altec. I got a million "wow's" from when people walked around back and saw two of them hanging on the back of my 329's.
