It also brings to mind a superb story I read recently about Matisse. Here goes...
A lady visited Matisse in his studio and was examinig one of his latest works. She unwisely exclaimed 'but surely the arm on this woman is much too long!' to which the artist calmly replied 'Madame, you are mistaken - this is not a woman it is a painting.'
