Today after coming back from my storage space, I visited the dollar store(Dollar Tree) and I saw some great stuff with AG potential. Small porcelin dolls, about the size of Samantha's Nutcracker doll in traditional Latina dress(for Marisol and Josefina), and some mini Mexican flags. I also saw some of those bags of clear stones you put in a flower pot or fishtank to use as doll cooler ice (thanks Prasnlrd!). All $1 each.
And.....I didn't buy them. I was in line to pay for them, and I just thought about trying to get rid of stuff and all the $1 stuff I hauled from Target and all the work I'm doing here with the organizer. So I stepped out of line, put them down on a shelf somewhere and left.
Same with seeing a Gotz doll outfit at Tuesday Morning for about $9. Picked it up, carried it around. Put it down and left.
I know I could still go back and get some of those things but I'm trying to not be impulsive and I'm drowning in stuff, and I just hauled a huge plastic tub of all AG stuff to storage. It's not out of my head yet, but I'm trying to show more restraint, and I know with AG for all of us that's really hard.

Good for you, Katie! Definitely the smart thing to do IMO--most of those items, you can probably get later, if you're still thinking about them a few days from now...

Hmm dollar tree....I need to check it out. Normally I try to stick with AG made stuff because I am more of a collector but lately I have felt like branching out.
edited because I forgot a word

Good for you, I know how hard it is to exercise self control. It sounds like you've learned some good things from your organizer and you are putting the ideas to use.
Good luck,
Alicia

I forgot to add that I'm also saving for the new Aug. book releases-Brave Emily, Emily mini doll, Emily cards and the Kit, Kaya and Felicity Short Story collections(eventually I want all of them, but these are the ones with the new stories in them).

You go girl, put down that stuff and run.
Buying something AG size to make a scene to make your apartment cute is one thing, buying it because PRASNLRD has it is another.
Those clear stones aren't going anywhere, but all the junk in your apartment is, keep up the good work, and post some pictures when you get done.

Yes, good for you. I have come to the conclusion that my favorite things in our collection are the dolls themselves and their clothes. I was thinking of going to Target today to look at the "stuff". We don't need it. You just saved me $$$ and space. Thanks!

Good for you! I remember that you have been trying to organize lately. The less you purchase the better. Use some of the money you saved to go to the movies as a treat!

HI,
YAY! Good for you. It is hard when you find little teasures, esp. at the Dollar Store (Hey, it's ONLY a $, right?). Dollars add up & space disappears. You inspired me to pull out the goodies I've been buying & putting away for DD for Christmas. Guess what? I filled 3 doll size stockings w/ a few odds & ends to spare for DD's stocking. I do NOT need anything else & will think long & hard before I pick up another item that I just *have* to have. I even shortened her Christmas list! She is only asking for Molly, two Molly outfits & the DVD. I had already added on lots of things she would [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] . Honestly, she would be thrilled with the things she only asked for. Sometimes less IS more.

P.S. Would LOVE to see pics of your "new" apt. when it's all done.

Good for you on controlling yourself, your organizer will be proud.
One thing your could do is total up the amount you want to spend on stuff like that and sit it aside for the stuff you really want on your list. I have so much fabric right now, so I made a deal with my fiance that I would not buy anymore fabric for now so I can save up for Emily. I work in a craft and fabric store, so not buying fabric is going to be really hard when i spend 16 hours a week surrounded by it. Having a goal is always helpful.
