People.co.uk is reporting that Justin Hawkins of THE DARKNESS plans to take the place of the late Freddie Mercury with QUEEN at a 30th anniversary gig this year. "QUEEN have been talking about a collaboration for a while and they finally got down to sorting it out a week ago," a source revealed. "The plan is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of QUEEN's first chart hit and to raise as much for charity as they can. No one will ever replace Freddie. But Justin will bring a new element to the comeback."
The deal was reportedly thrashed out last Saturday at a private members' club in London's Strand. Present at the meeting with QUEEN guitarist Brian May were Justin, brother Dan and manager Sue Whitehouse.
As well as the anniversary gig, the plan is to record a charity disc ? for Freddie's favorite Terrence Higggins Trust or Children In Need.
It's understood a formal announcement will take place at the second anniversary of the QUEEN stage musical "We Will Rock You" on May 11. THE DARKNESS have been invited to meet May and fellow QUEEN stars Roger Taylor and John Deacon that night.

Will John Deacon actually perform with them this time? Or will he stay missing?
One good thing about this, hopefully it show them, and the rest of the world who is still not aware, what a shitty singer Justin truely is in these ways! Plus it might cause Freddie to come back from the dead t do some SERIOUS ass kicking!
This does hurt though, hurts A LOT!

it DOES hurt. God bless Freddie. He was one of a kind.

Amen, I'm speechless. I've heard this Justin guy compared to Freddie SEVERAL times and I think people are completely and utterly F*ed in the head if they REALLY believe this. This dude wouldn't be worthy of turning ON Freddie's mic. He is a JOKE with a gimmick PERIOD. I know I won't be watching this if its on the tele.
Truly disguested.

We are all Freddie Mercury fans?
Fuck me.

Second band I fell head for, and became obsessed with unlike any other was Queen, back in '77. The first band was The Monkees, but it was 1974 and I was 4 years old.
But yes, Queen and Freddie were the shit for my entire life up until I turned 14 and found the underground scene of Glam and Punk.

I splashed out on a big Monkees collection,
just before Xmas. I only know about 5 songs,
but the big box was only ?5, so what the hell.
I was itching for it to be better than The
Beatles, fucking itching. There's more satisfying
than watch the colour drain from Lennonite cheeks
whenever you dare suggest that The Monkees were
better than The Beatles, whether you believe
it or not.
They're not of course. The collection was mostly
pap.

They had their great tunes, but then they had the stuff that was horrid! When they let Nesmith get all wacky was when they got REALLY bad. As long as they let Boyce/Hart and Mr. Diamond writing for them, they had some cool stuff. Mickey's voice was a great one.
Hart, I am still trying to figure out if he truely was indeed the crazy guy that was in the WWF as a manager for all those years. Supposedly that was him.

1. 'The Mouth of the South' Jimmy Hart was a member of the Gentrys, who had one hit with Keep On Dancing. Not a bad song.
2. Adam (Mozart/Jetliner) would have been an awesome singer on a Queen reunion.
