What if this post ends up on the last page...gasp!

So Shatzy, were you the little kid at birthday parties who would lean over and blow out the candles just before the Birthday boy or girl did? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

actually, i was oftentimes pre-ostrisized during the new school year. this worked out for everyone. no one got their candles blown out early, and i never got invited to birthday parties.

Oh Shatzy, I am so saddened...I am so glad you didn't end up the little match girl, holding up a lit match for a little bit of warmth and pretending to be in some far off safe place as she lay freezing to death in the street unnoticed by passerbys...
I read that one when I was little, left me bummed out for years, to this day for that matter.

Darn it, don't you get it. Sigh.
You were denied access to parties, so you couldn't be the one to blow out the candles first, and instead you were relegated to being the tragic Little Match Girl in the Hans Christian Anderson All Time Classic Short Story.

The Little Match Girl is my favourite fairy tale story. I've only ever read it once but I cried my eyes out! I think that if I read it too often, it'll lose its 'magic'.

perhaps that explains the confusion on my part.
i had never read the fairy tale.

Hans Christian Anderson wrote it...I think you should read it.
