Hey everyone. I know that this topic has been beaten to death. I've been through the old topics, but I can't seem to find a post that relates only to catch can installation. Can someone help me out?
I picked up a Greddy catch can. There are 2 holes on the top. I'm guessing that one of those holes is connected via a hose to the valve cover (where the breather is). The 2nd hole is connected to the PCV elbow correct?

If the greddy can has a filter on it and you're just going to vent the vapors to atmosphere, you're all set. Baffles are meaningless.
The baffles are for when you route the PCV hose and/or the valve cover hose into one or more fittings and then route the exit fitting back to the intake pipe (istead of filtering it out to atmosphere.)

It doesn't look like the Greddy can has a filter on it. It's a pretty nice stainless steel piece with a sight tube on the side. After removing the bottom, it seems that there are no baffles on the inside. It's pretty empty. Should I add some steel wool to help with the filtration?
Since there is no filter, I guess that means that I will not be attaching one hose back to the intake pipe.
Does this hose routing look right guys?

What benefit are you getting by choking off the fresh air intake into the breather? not only that, but you are then puting noxious, hot crankcase gasses back through the engine. Sounds to me like your doing more harm than anything else.Quote:

Currently, you have a hose running from the oil seperator box, via the PCV, to the gooseneck between the throttle body and the blower inlet. If you install the catchcan as you described, you will leave the fitting on the bottom of the gooseneck open. This would be a BAD vaccuum leak. If you intend to use the system via the oil seperator box/PCV, you must baffle the interior of the catchcan and then route the outlet hose to the gooseneck. You may also want to minimize the oil consumption coming from the valve cover vent to the intake tube. This catchcan should be baffled as well, however, it is not nearly as critical to baffle this one.
Holden (I hope you read this), I saw your catch can installation instructions from your website. They pretty much confirm the hose routing for my own setup. My only question is, since your car is a '96 GSR, is the PCV or hose system any different between our cars (mine is a '95) that may necessitate a difference in installation?
As far as baffling is concerned, I haven't found any literature telling me whether the Greddy catch can I purchased is baffled or not. I'm assuming that it is. Should baffling affect how the catch can is mounted?

It's only when you are not routing the PCV to vacuum (like I used to) that you need to replace the valve with an elbow.Quote:

For some reason, I thought that the valve cover vent was involved in all of this. I've got my valve cover vent capped off using a breather. That, like you said, should keep oil consumption through the intake down.
Will any modifications have to be made to the PCV elbow? Should it be replaced with a straight elbow (like in your case, Holden)?
