My in-laws came up from Florida last week for their annulal visit and on Sunday the wife and I invited them to a Broadway play. I parked about one block from Times Square and as I walked to the corner there was TRU, a three story monster store if ever I saw one. It even has a ferris wheel (unreal).
Of course we had to go in. Went over to the Spidey display and they had scores of carded spideys, but the ones they had, I already had. So I looked in a random row and what was the second figure?

Doc Ock! I couldn't believe it. Out of the corner of my eye I see some hulking guy and when I start to turn I hear a voice say "...boy did you get lucky, we usually take all the Doc Ocks out and put them behind the counter so the collectors dont get them." It was some TRU employee who also said they had no others in the store. And there were hundreds of people in the store, what freaking luck!

hell I didnt know that was rare. I got one like the first week they came out and opened it. would have known they were gonna be real hard to get I would have left it carded (for a while at least)

It seems to be like one of those ML chase figures, like Red Skull. Never saw it once in any store.

hell, it was EASY to find before the movie came out. then it hit and they flew off the shelves. i was waiting for the series 4 one, since it has bendy tentacles and not some stupid action feature. i had no idea series 4 was going to be out anytime soon, but we got them at work(Suncoast) a week or two ago. snagged a doc ock and a scooter spidey(the scooter is lame, but i got it since it had an interchangeable peter parker head). horrah for job perks... Ok lets get this straight. 316What also told me that there was a bendy tentacle one. The one I got is "Spiderman 2 Doc Ock with Tentacle Attack Action". link: [URL=http://www.action-figure.com/Reviews+index-req-showcontent-id-721.html]Doc Ock[/URL. Since I haven't opened it, I dont know if this is the same as the one with bendy tentacles.
If different, do you have link to the one you're talking about?

the one you got is the one i believe from series 3. it does NOT have bendy tentacles. it has some action feature that makes it so the tentacles can't really move, i believe. the series 4 dock ock is pretty much the same, with only a little different articulation, pegs to keep the glasses in place, no action feature, and bendy tentacles. i don't have the earlier one to compare, but i have heard that the bendy one has a better likeness...

I went to a TRU one afternoon, and they must have had at least 15 Doc Ocks. The next day, all gone. I didn't get one because I hate that ugly head. [img]smile.gif[/img] I was gonna get some just for the tentacles for fodder, but I passed. I didn't know he was so "rare." Hmmm.

Hard to figure. On Ebay now, the fig is going for $7-$9 with 1-2 hours to go. Go figure. [img]wink.gif[/img]
