Religion Who Needs It

After going to a Weckl clinic I had a revelation .People don't need main stream bigetry aka "Religion" we need Music. Weckl said something to the fact that his religion was music. I think that popular religion should be done away with.

Congratulations ed, you've done it again mate! Not content with nearly driving all of us drummers to beating the sh^t out of each other with your 'Who thinks Bush is an idiot?' post, you've now turned us towards that age old favourite - and starter of many a memorable war.... RELIGION!

What next I wonder? "Who thinks animals should be hunted for their fur?" "Is eating meat murder?" "What are your opinions on abortions?" Or perhaps... "Should women REALLY get the vote?!?!?!" hehe!

I am a christian and beleive that we should be allowed to ask questions without any resistance from your narrow minded replies Dazzler. If you don't like this forum then maybe you should try to find another one. In Christ,

No offense, I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm also not religious AT ALL, don't even plan to be, but I don't think you or Dave knew what you were talking.

Hold on a sec edd and TBF, if either of you took the time to judge the TONE of my post, you would find that I wasn't being obstreperous, I was infact being LIGHT HEARTED (maybe the 'hehe' gave it away?). You two should stop letting your hot heads get the better of you and maybe you would see that I wasn't mocking religion in any way shape or form. For all you know, I could be a practicing Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist or whatever.
As for your comments about this forum, I think this forum is fantastic and as part of the drumming community, I shall continue to be a part of it and share in the healthy debates.
Now and again however, (especially in the current climate) we need to smile and have a joke with each other - it's called FRIENDLY banter. I never intended to cause offence and it wasn't meant to be inciteful in any way. If you were offended, then I'm sorry.
Read it again, look at the exclamation marks, and take it in the spirit that it was meant, with good faith and HUMOUR.

Please lets not go down this road because Our Faiths in whatever, are too sacred to be bashing or arguing about. Politics is one thing but Religion is very personal and it is one thing to get into reasoned discussion but not into ranting and making cutting remarks one way or the other. And my statement is not directed at any one person but all I am saying is let's stick to music, we have enough to debate about on this subject called drums and making music and hopefully doing it without bashing eachother. I beleive we can challenge eachother but let's not get personal.

Um, ed, not to bash or anything, but your 1st [perhaps], & DEF your 2nd post didnt sound extremely Christian to me [your humble correspondent]...
Personally, i HATE the word "religion"...fact be known, the only time the Bible itself uses the term is when it describes other heathen or evil practices/"religions"...God or the Bible NEVER refers to true agape love or worship of himself as "religion"...this is a man-made word, a mockery of the true original SPIRITUAL intent...the meaning of the word "religion" generally ends up pointing to blind tradition, anyway [as in to do somethoing "religiously"], which we can all do without [you know, the ole "my grandpa was a [pick your religion or denomination], & HIS grandpa, & HIS grandpa b4 that, etc etc - that's the way it's done, that's the way we've ALWAYS done it [without question]...TRADITIONS...some r good...some flat out SUCK...
However, i too am disgusted by popular or "organized" [big business] religion...i prefer "spirit[uality]" or "faith"...true faith in the Creator &/or the truth [if one believes this] was NEVER meant to be what it has become; money, selfishness, personal agendas, & power-hunger has infiltrated it's walls, but can never take away from the truth of it...
But to crack on Dazz, then tell him to maybe find another forum & then say "In Christ" is not very Christian, & indeed VERY UN-American, if u ask me [& even if'n ya didnt], & EXTREMELY sarcastic...i realize Dazz was being somewhat sarcastic 1st, but it was with well-intent, & he DID end w/ the "hehe," which kinda made ya chuckle at the end, so as not to take serious offense to it...

Maybe [& maybe not! [img]wink.gif[/img] ] the Weckl "quote" was an acceptable point of debate 4 this forum, but the "...Bush is an idiot" 1 DEF was not...NOTHING to do with drumming OR music, & generally a bad idea when it's out of context like that...this is not a "political bandwagon" forum - it is a *ahem* [HELLO!] DRUMMING forum [as the title so eloquently puts it]...
Having said that, you r DEF entitled to your opin about such matters...only, it would be shrewd of you to keep it under your collar if it doesnt apply to drumming...just my .04 sense...
