It really surprises me that Mattel came out with that stupid looking bathtub...all the other items are so realistic in detail...all the historical items are true the period....I have never seen a bathtub that looks like this....it looks like a cheap Barbie toy.....a pretend toy...where is the realism that was so important with all the other items they are selling....IS IT ME

No, I thought the bath tub did not look very nice as well. I was surprised people would buy it.
It would have been so much nicer an more people would be buying it if it had been a nice imitation porcelain claw footed tub....instead of the sleigh looking thing they are selling
Maybe their marketing people should be reading the posts on this board...

It is a little worrisome, isn't it? I feel like now there are things on my "must-have" list that I want to get ASAP not just because I am concerned about retirement, but because I worry about any future decline in quality (like using plastic instead of porcelain). Frustrating!
This is too funny...
I was looking at the AG catalog at the kitchen table when my mom peeked over and said, "That's American Girl?!" in a very incredulous voice. You can guess which page I was on at the time.
I replied, "Yes, ever since they were bought out by Mattel they have been looking a little Barbie-ish." To me even the new AGT in the bathtub reminded me of Barbie.

If they were charging Barbie prices it wouldnt be quite so bad you expect that kind of quality with Barbie toys............but for goodness sake......at least make it look like a bathtub..lol

And speaking of Barbie... has anyone taken a walk down the Barbie isle in the toy store recently? I cant believe some of the dolls and the fashions that they have now. I would be afraid to buy some of them for my child- if I had one.
YOu're right Saving4Sam, we saw a Kim Possible (Disney) cheerleader doll with a megaphone that would make her cheer and kick. She could also do cartwheels. The girls loved her! However, I will not buy her because the 2-piece cheer outfit she had on did not even cover her chest!
Well I know most adults do not like the tub, but you have to consider AG and Mattel's target audience. My seven year old loves the tub and wants it for Christmas. We may not care for it, but a child may love it.
