hoi.
i checked out this vid (quicktime): http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/V...laiuta2MD.html and it is exactly the snare sound i've been striving towards. if anyone can help me establish what snare/heads etc etc he is using, i would be extremely grateful.

That's the Gretsch Chrome over Brass 8 lug snare, 5x14. Coated Ambassador on top with probably a snare side ambassador but it could be a diplomat snare side. Diecast hoops.
Gretsch reintroduced these snares at NAMM, not sure on the cost though.

none, it's not listed on the site yet. This particular drum was just reintroduced at NAMM and the websit ehas not been updated to show it. The drum has been long discontinued but Vinnie swears by it. I'm sure the site will list it soon.

ah, ok cheers. i assumed that gretsch would have updated fairly swiftly, obviously not :>
i looked through the gretsch website, and came up with 3 models that could fit the bill. any ideas which one it is?
