I was wondering if it's safe to run 8 PSI with a STOCK LS bottom? Since the LS has a 9.2:1 compression vs. GSR with 10:1 compression, wouldn't chances of a detonation be less in an LS than a GS-R if set to 8 PSI?

Yes it will be safer for the exact reason you stated.

Take the obvious safeguards, but also keep in mind all the people throwing $#!tloads of money to go from 6 psi to 8 psi, and getting maybe 20-25 hp for their trouble. Make sure your 6 psi setup is running top-notch (I\H\E) before upping the boost.
Plus while your at it, spend a few buck to brake better. Its less than $500 to get a big brake upgrade for the front. It amazes me how many people over look this.

How much does it cost to go from 6psi to 8psi?? Is it just the pulley and the trouble or are other things necessary??

well first you have to spin the blower faster. This can be done 1 of three ways ---
1) replace the harmonic balancer with a larger one from a CRV
part is about $140, plus replacing belts ($10 ea ? ) plus removing the HB is a major PITA. but as far as labor goes it may be the easiest.
Cons: spins everything off your accessory belt faster, leading to as yet unknown consequences
2) replace the alternator idler pulley with one from Endyn
part is about $160. Probably the most elegant solution. Only spins the blower faster.
Dont know and havent heard of anyone else doing it... yet
3) replace the puley on the blower itself.
Easiest approach if the blower isnt installed yet, a major MAJOR PITA if its already installed - practically have to remove the entire JRSC ! Part is about $130
Con - smaller pulley means less belt surface area, means higher possibility of belt slippage
I havent gone and probably wont go to 8 psi unless/until I max out my 6 psi setup. I still have tuning to do and also need to uncork the exhaust. Theres more performance left in the M62 I have.
I'd be interested to compare a M45 setup to mine with regard to response, noise levels, etc. Some of you have been following myy saga have seen that the M62 isnt putting out any more power than the stock M62 setup. Anyone near Philadelphia ?

Either blower (M45 or M62) can be run up to 15-16 psi if you have the right prep around it. See the Endyn site for info on this.
But if you dont spend the $$ to do the prep, then youre just making (literally) a lot of hot air and bringing your engine to an early death. And by the time you do spend the $$ to re-engineer the JRSC, you could have gone turbo.
Plus you start out at a disadvantage if you have the M45.

What is the difference btwn M45 & M62?

M45 is a 45 cubic inch displacement blower. Its used on the JR Civic kits and the Integra non-VTEC kits.
M62 is a 62 inch blower (approx 30% larger capacity). Its used on the GSR and TypeR kits.
Theres also a M90 and a M112 I think
The M90 is used on the Ford Lightning !
