Okay, I never understood the concept of taking pride in something that you are not responsible for.
I feel that if, for example, Gae and trav cook a fabulous meal for their friends, and receive a lot of compliments, they should feel some pride in the quality of their hospitality and the joy they have given to others. But "I'm proud to be an American" doesn't make much sense to me. ("I'm GLAD to be an American" does make sense.) Being proud of a your good fortune in being born in a wealthy county? Jumper and Pi?a can be proud of having served their country and they have more right to be proud of America's freedom than I, since they have contributed in a real way to the continuation of that freedom.
So, straight people don't need "rights", since there is no discrimination against them, and it doesn't make sense for them to be "proud" of something they did not have anything to do with.
This is stupid.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You mirror a point I made about being proud over something over which you have no control. Though I did make an exception over my large penis. And then I got to thinking about those who have exceptional, innate athletic ability, or highly capable intellectual capacity. Do these people not have pride in these characteristics?
