Damn, yeah! I?ve managed it, to get that exhaust much quieter and still very nice sounding!
SETUP: Kamikaze ceramic header with the 2,5" downpipe. Thermal 3" exhaust with an Carsound cat 3" and a 650mm midpipe resonator (includ a dezibel restrictor. This is a short pipe, which restrict the diameter of the exhaust pipe a little, but I think the restrictor speeds the flow of the exhaust gases up?!?)
The exhaust is still loud and (mostly between 4krpm and 5.5krpm) and has a BIG rumble at Vtec crossover! Above 5.7krpm it is much quieter! Why?!?!
MY car is SOOOO nice sounding, I love it. I can feel the Vtec x-over much much more, like in the times when I was N/A. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
Perhaps I?ve lost a few hp from the cat and resonator, but it was way too loud for street driving and I don?t want to drive with ear-protector or a helmet.
On Friday is dyno-time and I hope I can add 25-30whp with the exhaust setup, tuning my cam-gears and fine-tune the a/f mixture with my new cartech FMU and the Apexi VAFC. I?ll let you know of corse!

For those thinking about doing this, get thermal to weld the 'quiet mod' into yours before you install it. When I talked to thermal, they said that a resinator WOULD take power out of the car, but that their modification does not as much.

Since I don't have the kami yet, I'm interested to see if Austrian type R can succeed in getting fair hp benifits out of it while quieting it down quite a bit

Of course Thermal say so. They want to make the business! MY mid-pipe resonator is a full 3" one, and I think there is not much lost in power. Hell, my JETEX resonator is made for rally cars and I don?t think it?s eating lots of power!

Thermal didn't charge me for installing their quiet cone and the option is available on all new systems for free.

Thermal didn't charge me either. They said a resonator took power out of the car, because it does, of course it makes it much quieter too.

How much power does a straight through, unlouvered, rockwool packed resonator take away? I'd be surprised if it were measureable.
