Publishing of Poetry...

I'm kind of angry at the general population... I've come to notice that a great deal of people, not all people, just a great deal of them, will not purchase a poetry book unless that book is written by a dead guy or a famous star. My problem with this is that a lot of great poets will never be heard of in their lifetime. I'm currently trying to publish a book of poetry, but I fear that it will remain on the shelves of bookstores to gather dust and be eaten by selfish bugs... So my question to you is how do you get your name out there and actually have people give your book a chance when it deals with something like poetry...?

Thinks you made a good start..word of mouth..how about going to book stores and having a free signing..and i have seen lots of your poetry..its great..But Revvy do i have to stand in line to get my copy autographed too? have you tried submittin you.."transcript" to publishin companies? I would think it would be similar to a book??
