That's a good read on Jaco. Besides everything said there, what strikes me the most was his influence on other bass players like Sean Malone, Anthony Jackson, Marcus Miller, his style and approach to the instrument(electric bass) itself which was quite revolutionary for the time, but his legacy still lives on. For example everytime I listen to the live Camillo with Weckl and AJ, it reminds me of Jaco [img]smile.gif[/img]

Have been a long time fan of Jaco. Saw him three times and he never ceased to amaze. He was also an amazing drummer with phenomenal pocket and time. The industry really lost a gem when we lost Jaco. This disc and so many others are truly deserved tribute to a gifted and trend setting man and musician. Dont forget his son his one hell of a bass player. "Keep It In The Pocket". PT

Jaco's talent, I think, was a gift. No matter how much one practices, there's no getting around that his pocket was deeeeeep. Who else could pkay "Coyote" like he did, with a bit of perc. and Joni's great voice.

I'd love to hear Ersko's thoughts on jaco.

I have been listening to Shadows and Light and Hejira by Joni Mitchell and I never really understood how good that guy was.

His time is ridiculous! And the way he can pull those harmonics live, just amazing.

Yup, Jaco's work with Joni was amazing. Since you're listening to Shadow's and Light, how did you like hearing a 19-year old Metheny? Still had his sound, even back then.
