Well I suppose if the smog tester leans on the throttle too much and trips the bypass it'll start dumping a lot of fuel, especially if you have a big pump, which MAY cause you to fail. A fresh cat and a bottle of guaranteed to pass will ensure a passing score.

what about visual inspections?
My car is not due for smog inspection in several month, however, I am wondering if anybody in California has experience in getting theirs smog checked. I have the 6 psi set up, but I have AEM Short Ram, BTC and Raffey TPS trick.
Anybody has experience? The JRSC supposedly is Smog legal, but I want to know from first hand experience.

I'm dying to know, too. Since I got my car new in December, I won't have to deal with it for another two years. I've heard the fines can be nasty.
Can you just take the vacuum off of the JR bypass valve to "turn it off" or will that screw up something else? I also pulled the AEM CAI CARB Exempt sticker off of my intake tube - I hope that's not a problem either for the visual inspection . . .

All NEW cars purchased in CA do not have to worry about smog for 4 years. After that it is every 2 years. I am coming up on my first one this August. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif

Smog testers just pop the hood and take a quick look. Once they see the CARB approval they'll move on. They won't start pulling the ECU and checking the connections. Most of them won't know what they're looking at anyway.

Mine will be in early September http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif, so let me know what happens in August, I am just hoping that since mine is an OBD I, the standard is less stringent than OBD II

That'll cause an extremely lean situation at part throttle since the SC will be on all the time.
