Does anyone have extra insurance for their FI setup? I can see how you might just be screwing yourself over if you let them know.
However, it would be nice not to be out of pocket several thousand if the car is destroyed/stolen. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/frown.gif
My insurance company said everything bolted to the car was covered...I left it at that. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
thats right...if bolted to the car...it is covered...just take a picture or keep the receipt....

The insurance company does not seem to care about the added go-fast goodies to the car. I do know however, that they will not cover the additional cost of these if you do not ask for specific coverage. I pay extra (about $140/year) to cover the car for a specific dollar amount rather than allowing the insurance co. to determine the replacement cost in case of total loss. It probably depends on the State you live in but I bet that in most places if you lose a heavily modified car you are sh*t out of luck about the many $k spent on the car. the insurance company will do their best (which is damned good) not to pay for all those goodies. You'll be lucky to get a low price for an average car like yours in your area.

Basically there are several types of policies, depending on the insurance company, not all companies carry all types of policies. The "standard" policy covers unmodified cars (duh). You get book value for the car if its lost/stolen/whatever, and lose out on the cost of your mods.
Theres something else called a stated amount policy where you declare a value above and beyond the book value and pay the difference. Of course, you have to (a) find a company that does this, and (b) wont drop you when you explain that $3000 increase is for a supercharger.
Someone commented about adding a "rider" to the policy, that isnt done for commodity items like cars, more for houses and so on.
Finally theres collectors policies, which obviously dont count for our cars, until 2006 when the first Integras will be 20 years old.
SO, who's got an insurance company that supports mods - specifically the "if its bolted on" provision. Names please.

I don't know about the laws in other states, however, here in Alabama, ALL companies are required to pay for any and all items that are "Permanently attached to the vehicle". The trick here is that you must be able to prove that you installed it and that you paid for it. I keep all receipts and have MANY photos !!! Without both of these items, they can weasel their way out of paying.
Check your individual state laws... you may be protected already and don't even know it.
