i think it's america's sense of duty to 'protect' and 'better' other nations in it's own likeness that creates the problems.

just for the record, i do not think america is the root of all the world's political problems. so there is no reason or obligation for american to think it needs to fix them.
Imagine an addict that proclaims consuming their drug of choice is a right and a freedom.
Our drug of choice is oil.
as opposed to everyone else's drug of choice.........life...?
So perhaps everyone else want's oil to, and if we weren't consuming as much as we do, they would take up the slack.
However, must we waste it? Even a drug addict trys not to spill a drop.
