Everytime we hear of a new "technology" that will make us "safer", I wonder what the downside is.
For instance, if we develop lasers that can eviscerate an incoming nuclear warhead (a good thing), than we will also have the power to eliminate any human on the planet at any time (a bad thing).
Here's another one. They use those new airport security cameras that weed out terroists to map the weight and height and even our clothing preferences, and that information is sold to corporate America.
a lot of new technology don't realise there is a down side until it is in place and running. people are so geared to think of all the positives of new technology that we don't consider the bad elements of new technology and if we are, we're considered killjoys.
the problem is...
recognizing there is no such thing as 'safer'.

new .... and improved... and reduced..blah blah blah..doesn't always mean better...we are never without more risks and consequences
