My computer keeps prompting me for user name and password when i load windows...is there anyway to get rid of this?...i've already tried deleting the user name from user settings...but i still get prompted when i load windows...and i'm using windows 98...any help would be appreciated.

There is a way to do it. I do not remember at the moment, of course. I think I have a computer that has 98 on it, I will go look when I get some time, and some sleep.

I used to know how to do it, but I cannot remember right now. It has been a while since I did any net-related stuff with 98. It is irritating because I know how to fix, I just don't remember....

I used to know how to do it as well, but have forgotten and am now plaqued by the same damn login box everyday when I turn on my home computer.
Oh great, now two people have the same demand. That means I am going to have to get off my ass and go try to figure out how to fix it.

that login box is meant to identify you on networks, but when you're not on one, you shouldn't have to use one.
simply removing all the network interface stuff would probably work (the software i mean), but i think that's too much of a last-resort thingie
Ok, I think I found it. Right click on the network icon, go to properties.
Where you see primary network loging, it is probably on client for micro$oft networks change it to windows login.
That should remove the login box.
I do not know how this will affect any network properties, the box I tried it on was not connected to a network, so if there are problems, you get to live with the loging box.
