i see exactly what you mean now. the only reason that it has spaces in it is because there seems to be a white border around the image--which would explain the huge gaps between them.
if you can, see if you can crop the image just around it--taking off any border that might be there. then try it again and it should be ok. do you have a picture or paint program that you can do this on? i don't, otherwise i'd have it done for you already. hopefully this will work!
