Will the Red Sox fans complain for years that they got a relief pitcher for Shea Hillenbrand?
What about the Dave Burba for Sean Casey trade?
Wasn't the Red Sox/Diamondbacks trade a mirror of what the Tribe did in the 90's?

I wonder if the Indians would have bitten if he was offered for Baez. 27 year old 3rd baseman who can hit for average and only making 500k. Where were ya Shapiro?

Sometimes I think ideas get floated on the Cleveland .com Tribe Fan Forum to see what the fans are thinking.
Tribe Mike wanted us to trade Baez for Hillenbrand.
Perhaps others floated it. I saw it as a bad move.
I think Baez has the mental make-up be a good player and a team player. However, Hillenbrand did strike me as a good player, and for the little he was making, it would have been tempting to try and land him.
But Blake seems to get better, and Blake can play first, and seems to have some speed. He's built kind of like Travis Fryman, I wonder if Travis and Buddy have taken to him and see themselves in him.
Hillenbrand at third, Thome at first, Probably a very competitive team. But I don't fault anyone but Thome wanting too much money.

The Tribe Will be getting rid of Baez this year. They know he will draw a big salary next year, and they don't want to pay. They'll trade him for a couple of prospects.
As far as Blake goes, he's a stopgap at best. Blake is an AAA player and no better. He doesn't equal anything near Hillenbrand.
I don't think they'll get rid of Baez just yet though. It's very disturbing, but I've already seen headlines like, "Tribe might not be able to afford Baez"

Isn't the third year of Baez's contract?
And after next year, he'll still only have less than 2.5 years in the majors, how come he is elegible to make so much more money so fast?
