I'minterested in finding a cheap blonde/blue knock off doll to turn into a boy. Has anyone done this and if so, how easy is it to cut and style the hair? Would you suggest a doll with or without bangs to make it look like the Jack doll target used to sell? Thanks for your help-

Personally, I would rewig the doll with a boy wig. Especially if you use an AG doll, I would have a hard time seeing past the fact that it was still "girly," and I would think a new (made for a boy) wig would help that a bit.

Why not just look for a Jack on Ebay? They seem to pop up rather regularly. That's where I got mine, and for a rather reasonable price...$14.00.
That's cheaper than buying another doll, and re-wigging, and it's a boy to start with.
I'd look at this time of year. Prices seem to be down during the summer.
I really want an 18 inch boy doll, too, but I have to say that I just don't find Jack all that appealing. There's something about his face that bothers me. I'm going to wait until I find an androgynous-looking doll that I can rewig into a boy.
If you're going to cut the hair, I'd just take it to a real hair stylist. They know what they're doing.

I think the Gotz Little Sisters look like boys, but the are so expensive anymore. I keep hoping for one with bad haircut hehe
I made a boy out of an OG doll, and I like how he turned out. I actually think the older ones look better as boys than as girls! Here's a short album of my "guy" doll! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

I'd avoid doing the haircut yourself unless you've had at least a bit of experience cutting hair. If you don't trust yourself to cut your own hair well, definitely DO NOT cut a doll's hair. Yours would grow back, his/hers wouldn't. Plus your style options are pretty limited by whatever the wig was before you cut it. So I'd rewig.

Who is it here who has Larson (a Kirsten made into a boy)? Farmhouse Girl?
I think he's really cute, and doesn't look nearly as "feminine" as some of the other attempts I've seen to make an authentic AG girl a boy.
Dee, your boy looks almost exactly like our Jack. Must have been an OG doll from that same year you used.

It is I! I do indeed have Larson, and I don't belive at all he looks girly. We cut a Kirsten's hair the first day we got him, so he's never lived his life as a girl, always a boy.
