As you will recall, shatzy and I visited the great state of Tennessee and dropped in on the ever wonderful restaurant of Bob Evans on Hwy 64. Well, they had wonderful Barbeque sauce and to top it off, it was for sale!
So I plopped down $2.69 and got my very own bottle! Yummy!
Here is the problem, after the first use of the WONDERFUL sauce, I left it sitting out for 2 days. So this afternoon I have a look at it and see in big bold letters that it says "Refridgerate after opening". Thinking that this was obviously not called for, I swing through a local chicken shack and order some spicy chicken strips.
Thinking that I will now get to enjoy these strips with heavenly bob evans sauce, I unscew the cap to my delicious bbq delight and....it smells BAD!
Like really bad!
But also, I realize that this could be my mind playing tricks on me since I merely ASSUME it could be bad.
So now I am at a stalemate. I do not wish to toss out my Bob Evans sauce because I know that it cannot be found in the great state of Arkansas. However, I do not wish to taste the sauce and become sick.
What would you do?
Also, let's talk ketchup.
Refridgerate after opening or not? What do you do and why?

BOB EVANS WILDFIRE SAUCE
1 cup Kraft bottled original BBQ Sauce
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon dry minced onion
1 tablespoon bottled Hormel Real Bacon Pieces
2 tablespoons Liquid Smoke
2 tablespoon sbottled Red Hot Sauce (not Tabasco)
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 cup Classic Coca-Cola?
Put all ingredients into a saucepan over medium heat just until the sugar is dissolved. Do not let it boil. Remove from heat and put into a blender. Blend just until the mixture is smooth. Keep refrigerated tightly capped to use within a few months. Makes 2 cups.

Hold on gotta go puke.... Just had a vision of Hanny in his speedo's and TG using his ears as pistol grips GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG

Well, only if he sticks it down there completely.
-
whoa.... cya.... gonna try that.....
and for tg.... er.... well....
i'd refridgerate.... simply because the sauce
contains ingredients that would normally be
refridgerated.
and as for ketchup, yes, it goes in the refridgerator....
as well as mayonnaise, mustard.... etc etc etc
what i DON'T keep in the fridge is:
peanut butter
honey
syrup
-
but why doesnt ketchup say 'refridgerate after opening' on ketchup bottles?
i agree that it should be done, but why dont they give up proper instructions?

it is of my opinion that if its sold on shelves,
it shouldn't need refridgeration.... but then
again, mayonnaise is sold on shelves... and so
is BBQ sauce...
salad dressing is sold on shelves and i refridgerate
that as well.....
