I was wathching some OLD videos (Blue Cheer, Sweet, T-Rex, Rolling Stones, etc...) All these vids where made late 60's early/mid 70's. Before Mtv why did bands make videos? All kind of bands did this and I dont get it. I am so curious about this question and it agravates me to the point of no return that I cant figure it out. Does anyone know why the spent money and made videos with no type of Video Television going on??? [img]tongue.gif[/img]

From what I've heard in documentaries etc, They were used as promotional tools for booking agents and some bands did them to simply document and experiment with that medium, that's what Bowie said in an interview I saw with him.

I think that they used to play them on specialty, music based television shows.

Yeah, a lot of old footage was from things like Top Of The Pops, The BeatClub shows, Old Grey Whistle Test, Ed Sullivan, etc.
