I just made a very interesting discovery that some of you might now know (zela and the cheat are the only programmers i know out there right now)
i was surprised to learn that using vb to access database files (more specifically dbase 7 and access tables) is quite a bit slower than accessing those same types of tables using vba in access.
quite interesting i thought, and it has cause a problem for more....i now need another way to speed up the data access in a program that needs to be delivered yesterday.

don't use acces, but use postgres or mySQL?

yea....i agree, we need to use something else. but what you lack in experience will be your downfall. currently the program we have in place for the client is written in full blown access using vba.
i would love to use something else besides access....but why stop with those database engines? why not jump to the big boy which is our plan....using full blown sql server. unfortunately, we are trying to find a fix quick for the next 2 or 3 months until we can get all of our dbase 7 tables converted over to the sql server. our choices are in fact access and/or visual basic 6.0 (although I really want to use vb.net 2003)
