I just finished video editing a rarity. 50 year old 8mm footage of a wedding that had been transferred to video, from two different 8mm cameras!
What's really interesting is that both 8mm films were transferred by two different facilities. The look of the two films is incredibly different from one transfer to the other.
Of course, two different cameras were involved, but the film stock was probably the same, perhaps the cameras were similar, and the exposures of the original film were similar. But the difference in the final transfer is stark.
I hope I can find the time before I return the transferred footage to make a short dub of each film transfer uncolorcorrected so that I can post two stills of the same exact moment in time from both cameras when they had almost the same frame.
I tried to color match the two film transfers as much as possible when I made the edit master. If I can get grabs from the uncolorcorrected videos it will show off the differences quite well, and I might be able to post them on my forum.
