recording audio with mini disc recorder

i plan on shooting a short film and recording the audio with a mini-disc recorder. are there any hints anyone can give me or suggestions that would make the editing process easier? thanks

take detailed notes of stop start times for the takes

get a clapper board

A clapper board is essential - it allows you to sync the audio and film in post production. The noise of the clap is synced with the exact frame were the,uh, clapper claps. That should be sufficient

although not as good as being able to write down the take number on the board, if you were on a seriously low budget you could always hold your hands infront of the camera and clap

we did the hands claping on nervous contraception, but forgot to say what take it was, so sync-ing it back up was a nightmare! So say the take then clap!

this might sound stupid,but can someone explain the whole clapboard thing to me more in depth,i know it's purpose,but not in details.thanks

audio is recorded seperately to the visuals and must be synced up afterwards. By having a clapper board you are able to find the exact frame where the two parts meet and this is an obvious visual piont that can be synced up to the obvious "clunk" of the clapper board in the audio.
