Is there a way of getting round Macrovision on PC DVD roms? Its not that i want to rip any DVDs or do anything illegal, its just the fact my graphics card has a TV out and my DVDs are always crashing becos of it, i guess the computer thinks i could be recording to VHS with the TV out. Of course stupid me doesnt know how to deactivate the TV out since my graphic card has loads of options none of which say deactivate the TV out...
so... Macrovision... is there a patch to remove it?
when you copy (or back-up) a dvd on a burner, theres a program you can use to take of the macrovision so that you can copy the program no probs, try looking Kazaa for a PC DVD copy program
ive had nothing but problems when it comes to my DVD rom... i dunno if its just that particular one that needs replacing or whether i should just get a stand alone player. I would like to able to play that on my computer if i got one to save having a computer and a TV in my small student accomodation. Ive been told that if i hook a DVD player up to the Tv tuner cards input the Macrovision will cause flickering, so it seems either way i need to get rid of it somehow.
Has anyone got any reccomdations of good DVD ripping software? I might aswell get a good one if this is the easiest way to remove macro.
If i was using a stand alone player would a software hack of the macro still work?

Hey there.
You don't need to rip the dvd.
Go do a google search for "DVD genie". Download it, install it and disable macro vision. It can also be used to change the region coding of your drive and do all other kinds cool stuff.

thanx, the program looks good, but it just gave a link to another program to remove the macrovision which isnt free so... hmm
i think my best bet is just to get a LCD monitor which has the TV imputs on it and plug a standalone player into it. It makes sense really since it means I will have a TV/DVD player/Computer all one very small screen.
that program was probably DVD REGION FREE. Get a crack for it.
