is there a way to modify the AEM CAI to fit on a turbo? like cut it or add peices and stuff? if not is there anyone who made a CAI for their turbo? not a cold air box, but a real in fender wall CAI.
also if water gets into the turbo(which i guess is easier since it's lower than the TB so less upward movement is nesseary) would it cause a problem? cause doesnt the air get increbly hot in there? wont it just vaporize?
and i understand turbo set ups have IC but wouldnt intially having colder air also benefit? like instead of being 100 going into the IC it'll be 80 for example so the IC can cool it easier?

Ricehornet,
I have never done it but I'm sure where there is a will there is a way. A friend of mine made a custom cold air intake on his turbo CRX. He simply took some industrial tubing which looks a lot like a dryer hose and ran it down into the bumper just like an AEM would. He then attached his K&N onto the hose. Viola! A cold air intake that costs WAY less than an overpriced AEM.

the thing is that i have an AEM already just wanted to know if i could use itlater on
-
I guess there is a way then .......what about water ingestion? would it be more likely or what due to the less upward travel since the turbo sits lower then the TB

here are some pics of the one i had made.

sweeeeeeeeeeet.....the pipe from the TB goes to the turbo right, and the turbo intake which usually is poking up is down in the fender? how'd u make this? or should i contact you through EMAIL
-
that's right.to make them, you take u-bends and straight peices of pipe and cut them in the shape you want and weld them together.
-
I cut the pipe on my AEM to make it fit with my JRSC. It was all f'cked up after the JR install. took some cutting and tweaking, but it works great now. I was thinking of T'ing my pipe and putting another filter cone close to the TB. The idea was to wrap the closer cone with a medium density fabric to restrict the flow. This would induce the airflow to primarily come from the cold air filter below, unless there was suddenly more demand than that filter could satisfy in which case the add'l air would get pulled through the closer filter. Just a thought.

right now i am still tuning and we are trying a larger turbo,so i haven't been able to tell yet.it is bolted to the tranny and is solid as a rock.i started with a drag kit,but the pipes in the kit are pretty crappy and they were for a gsr,not itr. they didn't fit good at all.as far as times go,i took it to the track twice before any tuning and have ran a [email protected]in a couple of weeks the tuning will be done among many other mods and it should run mid to low 11's.

cool, it looks very clean and well made, mad props man..Any benfits from doing this or did u have it since you had the turbo..........and also did you support the intake tube anywhere? or is it just haning there? cause the AEM has that attachment point to the chassis.
thanx a lot man
what times are you runnin?
