Has anyone else out there heard the new babies album? If not then don't bother it'z an absolute pile of shit, they have basically ripped off every Ramones and Social Distortion riff in the book. If this is the new direction for a once great band then maybe they should call it a day.
I don't know, weren't they great for the extent of one album, and even calling that "great", since Social D. had done it all before, is a giant stretch? I never really understood the hype about them, when SD was already out there and WAY better.
A buddy of mine who was a HUGE BB fan finally gave Social D. a spin. Guess what? He is no longer a HUGE BB fan, and is actually not all that crazy about them anymore. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
The new BYB album is FAR FAR too polished to say the least and VERY uninspiring, I really like em' normally, but even since 'Makin' Enemies' they have been on a slippery slope where they lost that grit and vigour, their tunes just lack the coarseness and I did like when you'd get the odd bum note at the end of a track it made it all the more rough cut.
I am finding a band called United Enemies a better alternative these days...
I've never listened to S/Dist, maybe I need to get some, as all the comments I hear are positive, help me out here Carl if you can, gimme a run down on what they're like...
Rolling Stones (Mike Ness's favorite band) meets Punk, but with more attitude than you will ever find in any other band out there. Mike Ness has led a hellof a rough and tumble life, and it shows in his music, lyrics, and everything. Check out "White Light" and then if you like that, give the rest a spin. There is no bad Social D. And get ready to see the Backyard Babies in a whole new way, especially if you have never heard SD. You will hear almost the exact same voice, but better.
And since you like the Punk stuff, you really should have checked 'em out sooned man! LOL!!! They were one of the most important bands of the 80's with the releases of "1945" and "Mommy's Little Monster"! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

i know i am gonna sound trendy but you have to download 'I Was Wrong'. one of the best songs ever written.
Backyard Babies is Social D with a splash oh Hanio Rocks(i did that for you Carl [img]biggrin.gif[/img] ). I have Total 13 and had Making Enemies Is Good, haven't heard anything past that. Live the blew me out of the water Dregen is a MAD MAN on stage. I wasn't that impressed with there earlier stuff and it seems they have been a bit over produced on the later stuff.
I'll wait for the new Social D album due out sometime soon.
<font size="3" face="Arial">Bill is dead spot on with that statement. You will not find many songs that cut as deep and are as honest as that song. Easily one of the greatest songs ever written. Mike Ness could retire now after writing that, and knowing full well that he did more for RnR than pretty much any other band out there with that one tune.Quote:

Actually, I don't mind Making Enemies Is Good. Yeah, it's a little sleeker than Total 13, but I think that almost serves as a charm. Still haven't heard the new one, however.
