At the moment I'm listen to John Mayers first album called Room For Squares and it's fantastic. He's a young, extremely talented song writer. Great music and great lyrics. The drummer is a guy called Nir Z and he's well tasty! Fantastic pop grooves but with a load of personality as well. I'm sure I can hear subtle touches of Vinnie in there somewhere. Have any of you lot heard of him? - Incidently, Steve Jordan is on his latest release.

Nir Z. Was picked to replace Phil Collins in Genesis and played on the Calling All Stations cd along with Nick D'Virgilio. Also played on Billy Squiers tour a few years ago, opening for BadCo and STYX.
VERY kewl cat, met him on the Billy Squier tour, Lissa Walles did a big drummers picture with myself, Nir, Todd Sucherman and Simon Kirke of BadCo that night.
orignally from Isreal, now living in New York wih his wife. Spent time in the Isreal army too. Plays a GMS kit, 1 rack 2 floors, kinda sits high like Ringo but man does he play.
Not too long ago when he got the Genesis gig, Modern Drummer did an article on him.

I've heard a few tracks from the album and we play "No Such Thing" regularly.... it's good stuff. In the same vein I also dig David Gray's music.

David Gray is ok. I just love John Mayers sound. He's obviously a talented young writer. It won't be everyones cup of tea I suppose!
