Hey I was up late last night drinking Jenkins Vodka and after I eptied the box I decided to try it on my snare and it actually sounded pretty cool. Anyone ever try this, It almost sounded like when you air drum on your high with a really tight pair of pants, it was pretty cool none the less.

Ah well, this is a joke going around everywhere - Pinestripes sound like Cardoard boxes. The problem with this is - they really do. I never heard someone tune them up and play them so that they actually sound good.

It really depends on what kind of box you use. Wooden shells like maple, birch, basswood have different sonic properties, and cardboard does as well.
Was the box thick or thin? What color was it? Texture? Was it one ply or two ply? How drunk were you? [img]graemlins/smarty.gif[/img]
I used to LOVE pinstripes on my 6, 8, 10 rototoms back in the late 70s. When I recorded, they sounded like Syndrums!!! [img]tongue.gif[/img]

No, no, Randy & Clint - you HIT them w PINE...as in TAldridge trunks [if u r da king of metal - or u could use metal stix AW...this will kill your rims, but it doesnt change da cardboard sound too much...
...It's all relative, really...I mean, after all, I've hit a few people's relatives w a few pines/pipes in my day, after i'd heard 'em singin' or pinin' wif 'dere pipes...or was that 'smokin'...oh, quit whinin'...
