Hi There
Im faking a scene, in which Ive made a model - kind of scenery - that has a hole cut in the middle of it.
I need an actor in the scene, so Im thinking of filming this with the actor in the distance, and the model close up, so you can see the actor through the hole.
Hopefully this will make the model appear to be big - and real.
Has anyone done anything like this before, and have any tips, or advice - such as lighting it all?
thanks!

its pretty straight foward... just film the guy far enough back that he appears within the hole. Its hardly rocket science.

depth of field will be an issue. Getting both sharp (in focus)

well, if the forground is going to be in front of the actor anyway, film it sepretly, focusued nicely, then film the actor and slap the forground on top in post with a garbage matte.

thanks for the responses,
yeah I was thinking of doing it with a matte, or bluescreen or something, but I thought it would be nice to try and do it live instead.
Just wondered if there are any tricks worth bearing in mind when doing this.
Good Depth of field
Similar lighting.....
Cheers

If you're gonna move the camera about then it's going to be difficult. If you've seen the forced perspective feature on the LOTR disc then you'll know what I mean. The guy will have to move with the camera in order to fool the eye into thinking he is closer than he is. If you can't manage it, try using the latest version of after effects to do the blue/green screening, it makes it look like child's play.
