emo - noun: short for "emotional hardcore," the term "emo" has come to mean many, many things. Mainly, any number of bands that have hardcore influences, but play more melodic, mid-tempo music.
Examples of modern emo- Thursday, Hot Water Music (good), Further Seems Forever, Dashboard Confessional, From Autumn to Ashes, Coheed and Cambria (bad)
