I performed a search on this intake but nothing pertinent was coming up. How would the 3 inch CAI set up differ from the AEM CAI? It is also appealing to know I can use the shorty or the cold air if I want. Can you say back to back dyno tests?

From what ive "heard", the INJEN cold air intakes are the same as AEM, only less $$$.
I believe the piping is the same per application jus like the AEM's as well...However, i have no facts to back this up.
Sorry.

I have one. I picked it up with the cold air extension (sold separately). The quality of it is good, although it would be tough to screw up an intake. I got mine with a polished finish which looks quite nice. It includes a K&N filter.
I installed mine in a 99 civic with a JRSC so the usual cutting was required. All went well with the install and function so far and im happy with it.
The reason I chose the Injen over the AEM was first, price. Second, for what its worth, I followed TOO's advice about slowing down the intake velocity and upping pressure for better combustion, which the 3" is supposed to do (since the throttle body is smaller than the intake.) it probably didnt make any difference what-so-ever. i think an intake is an intake, but who knows. tough to dyno test too since the difference would probably be while driving.

to Kannon: U know why TOO state that wanted to slow down the intake air velocity? or any one know.
i went back and forth, aem 2.5 and akimoto 3 in(both short ram)
and all i can say that the aem fells better, better throtle response. The 3 in seems to whitle or (wot) whine louder.

It would seem that the larger intake would have better throttle response. The charger will require a set amount of air at a given power level. This air must obviously be drawn in through the intake. With a 2.5" intake there is always going to be less air present at a given moment than with a 3" intake. It would seem to follow that the presence of this "extra" air would allow for a more responsive response from the blower, as it would not have to wait for the air to be drawn in through the smaller intake tubing. My assumption is that this is not readily apparent at 6 psi, but would become a greater factor as the power went up.
Sound logical?

DC Sports now has a cold air intake in 3" as well. so that is another option for us.
