Hi all...
My name is Jo and I'm the Manager of a Youth Arts organisation in Townsville, North Queensland (Australia) called The Lab. We work with young (and not so young!!) people in the areas of music, video, filmmaking etc. Once a month we hold an event called Filmania, where we show short films from around town, the state, the country and the world! It's a laid back event which is growing in popularity every month. Last month we had over 100 people attend, not bad for an event that started a year ago with about 8 people!!
We're always on the lookout for short films to show at our event and this is where you come in!! If you're interested in having your films reach a much wider and appreciative nth qld audience, then we'd love to screen them! As The Lab is a non-profit community organisation, we can't pay you for your films, but we can help with postage if required.
We've exhausted our supply of locally made films and have had to broaden our search for shorts. We've made some excellent contacts in the US with indie filmmakers there and have shown many of their films at previous events.
If you'd like any more information about the event or getting your films to us, send me an email at: [email protected] or check out our website: www.thelabtsv.org or just chuck your short films in an envelope and send them to us at: The Lab, PO Box 1829, Townsville, QLD, 4810, Australia.
Any genre, style etc is fine. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece at all, in fact we encourage amateur and indie type films, ones you might have made at school or college or whatever. Any format is fine - VHS, DVD or miniDV etc.
Cheers all and hope to hear from lots of you and look forward to receiving and screening your films at our event.
Jo O'Brien
Manager
The Lab
