Brides Of Destruction or The Carpenters

Tough one man, as I am not a fan of The Carpenters at all and hate the Christmas stuff. But I will go with The Carpenters out of respect due to the amount of talent within that band.

If you want to discuss actual drumming ability, KC was quite good. Her brother could actually write.

I don't like what they said about The Dolls and Mott The Hoople back then, but I guess they had to please their audience.

Oh yeah, Karen and her bro. were a mountain of talent. She could probably sing anybody out there today under the table, but she had class and never chose to flaunt her abilities unlike the obnoxious "divas" that rule the airwaves now days. I'm not a Carpenters fans, or a fan of Babs S., but those two could sing! It's just a shame that the female vocalists of today don't follow their leads more than the loud brash annoying ways of Aretha.

I liked Babs' Stoney End era music, the things she recorded with Fanny. I also liked the music she did with Karen Lawrence's help, for the remake of "A Star is Born". She can sing, yes. She also had great taste in eyeliner [img]wink.gif[/img] . I liked her films.

As for Aretha, don't mess with her!! It's not her these lousy "divas" are imitating, it's something that started with that godfuckingawful Star Search, the original. The screeching, whining, off key noises that those contestants displayed, fucking sickening! It all reminds me of Mariah Carey, who appears to be doing a drag show with those hand gestures and that caterwalling.

These contemporary "divas" can't hold a candle to Aretha in her prime. In fact anything considerd "RNB" now, I can't stand. They all have the same offkey, whiney, talktothehand mariah quality to them. There are a few exceptions, but they are more my beloved Latina funk rocqueras.
