My cat on my 94' GSR is pretty shot...In fact is leaking and restricting flow. So anyways i need a new one and im thinking of just goin with a strait pipe. Although i can get a random technology high flow cat pretty cheap on group buy right now. What do u guys think? Here is my setup. JR SC 8psi,kamikaze 4-1 header, greddy SP cat-back exhaust 2.5"...i think thats all the info u need. So what do u guys think?
Just take a broom stick and hollow out your stock one if it's already bad. Or just use the flanges and make a pipe that goes in between.
I put a straight pipe on my car and had it on for only a day...I couldn't stand the noise. Definite power increase but not worth everyone staring at me everywhere...so I'm going to get a random cat.
I've heard of a lot of problems with hollowing out the stock cat. It apparent messes up the idle because of the drastic variation of the internal diameter before going into the cat-back exhaust. The gasses will swirl too much and it won't be very efficient.

Hey ChargeTegra, how do you know that your cat was shot? Mine is a '95 GSR too. Thx.
With my car, I got almost no increase in noise. The only time I can hear a difference is when VTEC kicks in. Maybe its just my exhaust and car?

and what kind of exhaust might that by Rboosted? What about a resonated straight pipe?

Ya im worried about the noise as well. Whats it sound like? Is it much louder than with the stock cat?
It is louder than you can imagine...if noise is any concern for you, then don't get a straight pipe.
