I took my daughter to see Dr. Morrissey on Feb. 27 for an ear infection. At that time there were no letters posted in the office or waiting room about him leaving the practice. As I left Dr. Morrissey, he asked me to make a follow up appointment for the next week to check my daughter's ears. I made the appointment for March 3.
On March 1, I was contacted by Dr. Morrissey's office and was informed that he would be out all week and to call back on March 8 to reschedule. While in Savannah on March 8, I contacted Dr. Morrissey's office to reschedule the appointment and was told that Dr. Morrissey was no longer working there and that he would be working at Memorial full time.
My sister-in-law and I were in complete shock that he left the practice without letting anyone know.
My sister-in-law then called the doctor's office back and asked what we needed to do to get our children's records. She was told to come in and sign for them. By the end of that week, my sister-in-law went into Dr. Morrissey's office and signed for her children's records and that is when we received the letter backdated stating that Dr. Morrissey was no longer seeing patients and that we had until the end of March to get our records.
On March 31, I went and signed for my children's records and was informed it would take two weeks for my doctor to receive the records. To this day, I do not have my children's records.
I am really disappointed that the Dr. Morrissey has treated us this way. I really need my children's records and Dr. Morrissey should have to give them to me. I should not have to pay for my children's records when he up and left us without notice and is keeping our records hostage
