I have a few questions about what to do after the installation:
1) What steps did you folks go through after installing the JRSC to ensure it was working properly?
2) How long did you wait before flooring it?
I also have a bonehead question where I just want confirmation:
3) Turning the distributer clockwise (from the passenger side view) retards timing, Right?
I'm asking because I will be starting the install with an underdrive pulley that has no timing marks and I can't set my timing accurately before I start so I want to safely retard the timing before the first post-install startup. Before you ask, yes, I am putting the stock pulley back on with 10 and 8 degree marks on it.

1)
- Insure that their are no gas or oil leaks.
- Make sure that their is no pre-detonation.
- Verify that boost levels and gas pressures are normal.
2) Actually I floored it right away, before I found a gas leak. Most of #1 should be verified though, I was lucky, but any of the above missed, may result in a bad day.
3) I'm not sure. You should be able to set the engine at TOC by looking at the cam gears (you'll have to remove the valve cover). Then line it to TDC, and place some marks on the underdrive pulley. After this you can do the timing with the timing light. Remember that 0 degrees is NOT what you want the timing at, but 8-16 degrees (to the front of the engine) which are advanced or positive degrees from TDC. I think that rotating counter clockwise is retarding, but I may be wrong.

I don't know if I'd even worry about it. You can start the car with the timing way off. It won't hurt anything unless you leave it that way and drive it. Just start the car after the install, warm it up and check for leaks, etc., then set the timing.
