I've heard people mention the J&S plus in passing, but I haven't heard what has that the nonplus doesn't. I can't find anything about it in my searches. Anyone got the scoop on the J&S plus?

i heard it will be boost cognizant. It's already rpm aware... so looks like it is aiming at retarding when boost hits a certain level in a certain rpm range... so you set it to 3000-4000 on an 88-91 Si, and 4000-5000 on an R... or whatever... basically smoothing out your timing curve without buying a Apec ITC or Shogun.
I certainly HOPE that's what it does.
Kool so its like an MSD BTM and a current J&S in one... sounds really cool. I hope its not too expensive. I hear they customize the current ones for each car (although I don't know just how much)... I hope they do the same with the J&S Plus. Then, in addition to its current features it could basically replace any need for the customized boost retardation (is that a word? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif of the JR BTC thats becoming so popular.
Any comments on this John? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Is this what TOO was referring to in a post a few weeks back... ?

If so, I wonder if theres an upgrade path for current J&S owners (like me).

It's supposed to work just like the old one, but you can adjust the engine timing curve at different boost levels.
Supposed to be the ultimate combination of MSD-BTM and JRSC BTC with knock elimination, all in one.
Damn, bout time they stepped it up a notch! But it sucks that it probably won't plug right into the units we already have......Will it?

Currently the adjustments John makes to the Safeguard for each car is mostly tuning for the engine size. The electronics have to be tuned to listen to the right frequency which will depend on cylinder size. I think they were literally talking about the bore size. Just like different drums make different sounds based on their size, a ping in a X bore will resonate at a certain frequency. Simple physics.
psshhhh
.. and where would a zdyne gold ecu fit in with a J&S 'plus' device?? There seems to be some overlap.. Zdyne allows fuel and timing
adjustment based on boost, and the J&S 'plus'
will adjust timing based on boost.. so a
zdyne gold would be overkill at this point.
yes?no?maybe?
NO...
ZDYNE is must have..
The Safeguard a must have...
but the PLUS is probably not neccessary if you have a ZDYNE.
The PLUS feature is just a band aide for the non-boost friendly HONDA ecu. ZDYNE allows the ecu to be boost friendly!
With the ZDYNE, you can use either the regular Safeguard or the PLUS. You likely won't need the new feature of the PLUS.
But just wait till the real definition of the PLUS comes out.
