I see nothing wrong with trying to find highly qualified African Americans or Latinos - groups that have a tendency to be underrepresented in various industries.
Engineering firms, insurance companies, brokerage firms, etc, have a tendency to be white male dominated. I've come to the conclusion that a certain amount of diversity is a good thing. Having worked in environments that have been white european male, I've found a sense of complacency and unwillingness to look outside the box at times.
I am a strong black/latino female with strong homicidal desires.

And, purely by coincidence, each of the enumerated groups is protected under Federal Law (i.e. they can sue). Hmm........

Antidiscrimination laws for gays: Few and Far Between
I've been passed over for several promotions recently, and a colleague intimated that it's because of my sexual orientation. What recourse do I have?
Although federal law prohibits on-the-job discrimination based on age, gender, disability, race, or religion, there is no corresponding federal protection for gays and lesbians. A number of cities and some states do have statutes that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, however.
If you live in a jurisdiction that does?and this may vary even within state lines?you can file a complaint with the appropriate administrative agency, for example, the state or city human rights' division. If you don't know whether you are protected by an antidiscrimination statute or which agency to contact, your city attorney's office or local EEOC may be able to tell you.
Even if you do have a legal basis for fighting workplace discrimination, I would advise you to try to work out this matter internally first. Meet with your supervisor to express your interest in advancement, if you haven't already done so. In a nonaccusatory manner, ask whether she thinks you're a candidate for promotion and why you did not get the previous promotions. Document the date and content of your discussion and keep it for future reference.

I should point out that my brother fired one of his employees for being gay. The employee apparently was too open about his sexuality, my brother didn't like it - so the employee got canned.
Perfectly legal.
