Apparently, the cause of death was a house fire. He obviously had a huge backlog/collection of comics, and it only helped fuel the fire as a result. A real tragedy, he was an extremely nice and giving person, a trait not commonly seen in comic shop owners. RIP Tom Strong, you will be missed.
Ack, that sucks. I'm good friends with the two guys who run one of my local shops, in fact I'm getting a movie off the ground with one of them, and it'd really suck if I had to hear that news.

If he had died of natural causes it would be one thing, but since it was from an unforeseen domestic tragedy it makes it that much more shittier. Hopefully, the Antiquarium, that being the shop that he ran practically single-handedly, will somehow find new ownership, but I have my doubts. Only comic shop in town too.Quote:

Man, that fuckin sucks. It's amazing what one person can do to the atmosphere of a shop.
In my town, we have 2 shops, one BIG shop with loads of backissues, but the salespeople aren't as cool (kinda rude even).
The OTHER shop is a tiny hole in the wall, with not so many backissues, but it has two of the most enthusiastic guys I've met, always giving me great deals, and telling me about new comics I might like. It's a great shop to go to.
