Elmo ST 1200 and sync transfer

As I understand the Elmo ST 1200 and GS1200 both come equipped with a 1F switch and that there is a sync unit interface for transfer.Anyone have any experience with this?

I had access to a GS-1200 back in College but I don't recall if we played with the single frame option. I wonder if a metal "screen" drops down to prevent the film from melting. If that is the case then you might be losing resolution.

I think a moded Workprinter makes much more sense if you are going to pursue single frame transfering.
