Hi guys,
If you see Thomas on this tour tell him Mark Pusey says HI!!! I was with him last week, he had a cold so hopefully he'll be better by the time you guys get to see him...

Quite honestly, whether it's the 88 clinics he's done so far on this tour or just inhuman strength, he's far better than he was even on his own DVD. In the last six months his playing has rocketed... Honestly, I'm a Virg fan, but if it were a compition (and there obviously isn't!!!) for speed, accuracy, inventiveness etc. it'd be over pretty quickly. What's also great is that he makes it clear none of it matters, it's just for clinics and fun. He is a MUSICIAN!!!

He really is on top form...

Do I have too!! [img]biggrin.gif[/img] [img]tongue.gif[/img] I really DIG Thomas too. He is a BAD dude for sure. We all have our takes on this stuff. In the end we do not drum to see who is more technically advanced that is for sure. It is quite interesting to hear what other GREAT drummer's think though. Mike Mangini has a recent opinion of who he think's more than anyone is on the technical cusp as of late(pushing physical and creative boundaries farther)so to speak. When one of these Giant's decide to speak and share an opinion it does peak interest. I hope to see Thomas in the near future. He is Awesome!

By the way Fuse how do you apply the little square picture thingy(you have the snare drum with the hands) as you have under your name? I know I should know but I do not.

I've seen some of his vid over Derek's place. He's pretty sick, but like Fuse said, "Can he swing?" I'd really like to see him in some more interesting, varied music settings (like a five piece kit with brushes).

The clinic in Orange County I caught had a "heckler" (teacher trying to prove a point) that asked the EXACT same question regarding brushes.

So he broke some out and played some killer brush swing. Felt amazing; everyone was duly impressed for sure. I was definitely surprised.

I'm sure if you ask him to demonstrate something at NAMM or a clinic, he'll do it and you can hear and judge for yourself.

I've seen clips of Thomas playing with artists such as when he toured with Geri Halliwell (former Spice Girl) and several known European singers. Then Thomas is a different drummer, and can swing.

Ever since Thomas is developping pedals for Sonor (about four years), we have seen him perform clinics demonstrating his technical skills. Leaving the "musician" thing behind for a while, I believe that Thomas is taking advantage of the Sonor demo/Technical skills ride, while the timing is right for this.

But, I'm sure, in a couple of years, when this novelty wears off, we will see him in another light, playing music with musicians of diverse styles, and I am sure we will hear him "SWING".

There are just some drummers who can "do it all".

P.S. Buddy Rich had a great quote that went something like this: "There's no such thing as a rock drummer, a jazz drummer, a funk drummer. If you are a real drummer, you can play it all!"
