Hi All - just wondered if anybody had any methods they use to get the most out of a practice session - here's something i'm doing at the moment to get my double bass drum playing together. i've found that i'm able to get twice as much done while getting a whole range of solo ideas.
1) play singles , doubles with hands and feet in unison.
2) same as above but play symetrically , so if you were doing singles you would start with your right hand and left foot.
i've put in an hour at this today recorded it on my V drums and i hear a real improvement.

I'm also working on double bass at the moment. I'm working on the techniques mentioned by you, but i'm also working on Steve's single roll combined with double bass.
e.g .
LF RH RF LH. This takes a huge amount of my practice time at the moment.

hi Klemme - the pattern you mentioned , that's the vinnie , bissonette one right? are you doing it to click? if so, what speed did you start at?
i heard this lick played on a steve lukather live album - sounds fantastic.

Yeah Vinie and Gregg is using it alot. very underestimated soloing tool, and man. i'm just waiting to get comfy enough with it to comp some sick stuff in a Bop situation [img]smile.gif[/img] But that leads me to your second question. how far i've progressed with it. Not very far [img]frown.gif[/img] My left foot and right hand has communication problems! But i can keep it comfy at 130bpm. i began at about 60. But i usually don't practice to click. But getting the pattern to the point where it Rolls is the hard thing. I've tried for funsake, and it tripletlized ( You call that in english? ) very easy. so before i can put into action, more coffee and free-time is needed [img]smile.gif[/img]
And i'm also working on the Unreel Book, and that > Double Pedal training at the moment.
But at least i'm serious about my Double Pedal. i've had my DW 9002 since june, and haven't dared to really practice with it until november.
But it's frightening how handicapped you feel, when comfortable with the 3 other lems of yours and then your left foot needs to develop that much. It's hard work man.... requires alot of motivation. i'm hooked at the moment though! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
